Music Studio Success

Cover2Dear Reader,

If you’ve reached this page you are probably in the same position I was many years ago.

I had no money, no students, no job, and a lot of college debt.
Today is different. I have a great job, work for myself, make my own hours, and get paid
well to do something I love. And you, as an artist, can do exactly the
same.

But making the decision to teach is not enough. Whether you’re new to teaching altogether, or simply want to move away from being employed to being self-employed, going it on your own can be a daunting prospect.

That’s why I’ve created Music Studio Success.

You don’t want to do what I did at the beginning of my teaching: waste tons of time and energy doing the wrong things, only to be left with little or no students.

The secret to starting a successful teaching studio is to know the key things that will get you up and running fast. Yet most teachers, for all there training in the arts, don’t know very much about how to do this.

With Music Studio Success, I can show you what took me years of wasted energy and time to figure out: How to focus on the most important elements of teaching, and get students knocking on your door as fast as possible.

I wasted tremendous amounts of time and energy as a young teacher doing the wrong things, and not enough time doing the right things.

Using this book and instructional videos you’ll learn:

  • The 4 Stages of Growth That Take place in every truly successful teaching practice
  • The 8 Items you must accomplish to fast-track your teaching business
  • How to design a professional teaching website for only a few dollar a month (This is Probably THE most important part of starting a studio in the modern age)
  • The types of advertising that work quickly to get you students
  • How to set yourself up for long-term visibility
  • How to make sure you get found online!!
  • How to design effective promotions for your studio
  • How to manage the day-to-day functioning of your studio
  • And so much more!

While this book alone is full of helpful information, as a bonus to my readers, I also include several video tutorials to help get your website online and running. In nearly two hours of bonus tutorials, I show you:

  • The elements that make up a great website design and content, and the best way to put one together.
  • How to work from a site outline and design a site that search engines will love
  • The service I use to build and host my webpages (but you can use what ever you desire)
  • An extensive tutorial where I build a website right in front of you!

Are you eager to get started building your own private teaching studio? Many people are – I know because I get asked for help so often.

If we were to sit down and discuss everything I include in this book, it would take me several hours, and I would charge you hundreds of dollars. In fact, one of the main reasons I created this guide was that I simply didn’t have time to help newer teachers do things properly all by myself.

If nothing else, a teacher will often take me to a nice dinner to get my advice! And even that will cost them $40 or so!!

I would like to offer you Music Studio Success for far less than many hours of my time, or even than a decent quality meal. This means you get the entire book and several tutorial videos for only $27.

And, because you want get started with your new business as soon as possible, Music Studio Success is immediately downloadable following your purchase!

And best of all, if you don’t like what you see, you get:

From the Introduction

I. What this book is and what it is not.

This is not primarily a business book. This book will not teach you about accounting. It will not tell you about Federal, State, and Local laws concerning running a business. I am not an advertising pro, an incredible businessman, or a marketing guru.

But I am someone who has run a successful piano studio for many years. I started from nothing. No students, no prospects, no money, and lots of debt. I now work from home, make my own hours,

This was not an easy process.

Through a lot of trial and error I have learned how to make a piano studio run, and I’ve created a standard of living for myself that I am proud of and happy to have. In this book I hope to share with you many things I had to learn the hard way. I think I can save you months and years of frustration and dead-ends.

Who is this book for? It is for anyone who runs or wants to run a music studio. It could easily be used by any professional who wants to teach; whether dance, yoga, art, tutoring, you name it. I’m sure that with a bit of tweaking most anyone who owns a private teaching practice could find much of the advice in the book useful.

Most of the advice here is not groundbreaking or new. All experienced teachers have learned many of these things by trial and error. I’m simply writing what I wish someone had told me at the beginning.

Some of this book is practical and hands on – some of it is more philosophical and open ended. I think it all has value, and I promise I’ll try not to blabber.

In part, this book was inspired by something which has happened to me many times: frantic phone-calls from new teachers. I’ve received many calls that go like this “Matt, I’m about to teach my first piano lesson tomorrow and I’m nervous as hell! What do I do?” Or “Hey, I’m trying to begin my private teaching business and I have no idea what to do, can we have dinner?” (The answer is always “yes”. Who doesn’t want a free dinner?)

So, for those of you who want to buy me dinner, this book is for you. Save yourself the money and have some advice you can read over and over! I hope it answers many of your questions and is a help to you in creating a lasting and fulfilling teaching career.

Yours in music,
