While it may still be cold and windy in much of the country, I want to let Piano Blog readers in on plans for the fast approaching Austin Piano Festival this May.
Our Festival Piano Competition will be held on March 14th, drawing students from all across the state. Many of these students will have the opportunity to participate in festival master classes, perform in concerts, and appear on Austin’s KMFA 89.5 as guest artists!
The festival itself will be held May 8-17, and as usual we have several exciting concerts in store! These include a solo recital by the celebrated pianist Nancy Weems, an audio-visual concert of Impressionist music, a two piano concert, and of course our exciting Opening and Closing Galas which feature renowned pianists from around Austin.
We are also excited to expand our master class participation this year – and there will be some very exciting classes with world-famous pedagogues such and Nancy and John Weems.
I’m really thrilled about these events! You can read more about them on the festival website at www.AustinPianoFestival.com. While you’re there, make sure to sign up for our free newsletter, and read more about how you can become involved with this unique organization.
