I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I totally agree with your practice method. One thing I would add is that even when you practice a brand new piece, playing with emotion and feeling can help you "conquer" it easier and faster, rather than playing the piece like a robot. You should check out my blog too! http://pianopress.wordpress.com

Barbara - Thanks for reading along I plan to post more soon so I hope to see you back here again!

Piano - I think you are right you can learn a lot quicker if you have an emotional investment in the music--as long as you don't let that throw off your focus at first. Thanks for your comment :-)

Good blog.I play bass and have recently started to learn piano.A very efficient method I have found is to practice a 'bite size' piece ( 2bars or so)for only 15-20 mins. You leave it it over night and return to it the next day and do it again - it gets easier/better.Keep doing this for a few days and the piece is learnt.I got this from an old blog and it really works but you have to be disciplined in doing exactly what is required.
