As a teacher I often try to be creative in my practice suggestions. This is a good thing of course, but in our efforts to keep things musical and interesting, its easy to forget the enormous value of careful repetition.
The hard fact is, it will always be an enormous amount of (conscientious) repetition that makes it possible for a pianist to operate in "auto-pilot" mode. So, put the metronome on and get to work!
I really admire piano teachers like you, like us. I certainly agree with you when you mentioned that you often try to be so creative in your practice suggestions - exerting much effort to make music teaching as well as the learning process more fun, interesting and exciting. So, let's get back to work and be more inspired to motivate our students learn to play piano or any musical instrument both efficiently and effectively.
